INDIANA FISCAL POLICY INSTITUTE
The December revenue forecast anticipates Indiana poised to see $1.6 billion in tax revenue growth over the next 30 months, primarily from sales and personal income taxes. With this low level of expected growth, state fiscal leaders will have to weigh competing calls for increased state spending – in education, healthcare, and economic development (among others). How will fiscal leaders respond to these calls for increased spending? How does legacy federal funding from the pandemic and the current state surplus impact their decisions?
Join IFPI President Stephanie Wells and the lead fiscal staff from the Indiana General Assembly as they discuss the spending priorities for this budget, how they work together, and how the budget process works. Participating analysts from each of the four caucuses are:
Erik Gonzalez – Indiana House Democratic Caucus
Susan Preble – Indiana Senate Democrats
Krista Ricci – Indiana Senate Republicans
Ben Tooley – Indiana House of Representatives Republicans Caucus
Kick of 2023 with the IFPI and these experts for this complementary primer of Indiana’s budget process.
